Spa Day
Sharon and I arrived in Caracas early this morning, on the night flight from Houston. Enjoyed breakfast at one of my favourite spots, where the staff recognizes me after not being here for four months. Not a work trip this time, but a mini-vacation to visit friends made down here in the past year, to relax, and also to close up some loose ends - like finishing my SCUBA course and reclaiming the luggage I left here. After breakfast we hit our respective salons. I just came back from the best full treatment haircut/shave/manicure/pedicure/massage I've ever experienced. I lost count after four hot towels, and there was definitely a cold towelling in there as well. Some kind of wax or clay type cream was applied to my face and dried under a hot lamp with a blow dryer. Total charge for two people working on me for one hour: $20. I tipped generously. Last I saw Sharon she was lying flat in the back room of the Salon de Belleza with a white face and cloths over her eyelids. She looked very happy.

We'll be here two days, then head to the coast for three more days. After the weekend, if all goes as planned, I should be fully certified for open water diving.
