Georgia weekend
Sharon did the flying this weekend to spare me the pain of that, and joined me here in Atlanta. I consulted Dirty Linen's gig guide to see what might be happening in the area. Lo and behold we ended up spending the weekend in a tiny town in North Georgia in the area where the Appalachians mountains begin. Saturday night I totally surprised Sharon by sitting her in front row center seats of the auditorium at the Ellijay Elementary School where Ralph Stanley and his Clinch Mountain Boys took the stage (the same from O Brother Where Are Thou fame). Bluegrass perfection. Ralph is eighty now but his singing still pure magic. He and most of his band were appropriately dressed for the locale, in peach color shirts.

We stayed at this beautiful log-cabin bed & breakfast in the woods which happened to be having an $89 opening special (the breakfast they served was worth most of that). Both Saturday and Sunday we visited a really nice waterfall at Amicalola Falls State Park. I found the mist and change in elevation very theraputic for my ears which have been giving me problems since my recent scuba dives. Doing that let me hear the music on Saturday just fine. Pictures are still in the camera that is flying home today with Sharon - but we'll get some online soon.

No fluke
Today we finished the Scrabble game we didn't quite complete on the flight home on Tuesday. Both of us scored above 400, but Sharon wins again. Small bit of dictionary consulting for her pivotal final word "ewer", but we play a friendly game.

Venezuela trip photos
A roll of shots from our recent very fun though short trip to Caracas to visit friends and to the coast where I successfully completed my SCUBA certification.

Venezuela Nov 2007

The last photo documents Sharon's second-ever Scrabble victory against me. It was a high scoring game and a commanding victory. After allowing my questionable first play of "meower", Sharon's final play was to add the S to make it plural and create "spawns". Awesome. I think the tables may well have turned.

Workshop
Following in the footsteps of the more prolific, Arthur "Two Sheds" Jackson, we now have our first real outbuilding on our country lot, courtesy of Todd the builder from San Antonio. Click the prototype to see before/after shots.
