Product Development Intern

Job Description

Location: Pittsburgh | Type: Intern

Min-Experience: 1+ Years of Intern Experience. Currently enrolled in a 4 year Bachelor’s degree program in Fashion Merchandising Product Development, or Manufacturing.

We believe our customers should be able to buy one bag and use it forever.

We are seeking a Product Development Intern that is highly organized, creative multitasker to support our sourcing and supply chain department. We are looking for a quick learner who is passionate about making sustainable product. The products will include backpacks and add on accessories that are in line with Day Owl’s ethos. What will Day Owl’s across the US be wearing in 2020 and how can our backpack elevate their style and life.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supports product team by preparing necessary visual tools (i.e. sketches, presentation boards, fabric swatches, color standards, etc.) for meetings.
  • Assist with daily communications to external vendors as needed.
  • Assist as needed in maintaining product specifications - including technical illustrations, bills of materials, prototype requests and construction details.
  • Attend fit sessions and cross-functional meetings to achieve an understanding of the product lifecycle.
  • Assist with lab dip, trim & strike off comments and filing.
  • Attend weekly Product Team meeting & weekly touch base meetings with Product Manager.
  • Attend seasonal competitive shopping trips.
  • Collect customer feedback.
  • Run wear tests.
  • Assist design team in research/plan color assortment of 2021.
  • Plan customization options for the bag.

PREFERRED SKILLS + KNOWLEDGE

  • Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Able to communicate with cross-functional teams.
  • Well organized and able to deliver projects in a timely manner.
  • Energetic and willing to work in a faced-paced work environment.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and multi-task.
  • 2-3 full days per week minimum

Fulfillment Manager

Min-Experience: 3+ Years of Experience in a Fulfillment House

We believe our customers should be able to buy one bag and use it forever.

We are seeking a Fulfillment Manager that will be responsible for overseeing our fulfillment center. You’ll be heavily involved in driving process improvement, maintaining a safe work environment, and ensuring that we are delivering the best product on-time to our customers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work closely with the Production Manager to select appropriate carriers for domestic and international shipments.
  • As the last touchpoint before the customer, ensure exceptional customer experience across all fulfillment activities, utilizing feedback loop from Customer Service, Marketing and other departments.
    • Manage quality control of products shipped, inventory received, and returns
    • Provide daily order status to team.
  • Provide direction on process efficiencies.
    • Assist customer team by handling day to day customer service inquiries including delivery issues, returns, and repairs
    • Manage and train associates as needed on production processes.
    • Responsible for handling all paperwork for both domestic and international shipments.
  • Negotiate, evaluate, and routinely make recommendations for best carriers.
  • Recommend optimization opportunities for packaging design
